About Me
Hello! My name is Kathy Knox, and I am the Graduation Specialist at Tumwater High School. This is a relatively new position in our district and my main job is to help students make it to graduation. My work is largely focused on intentional relationship building, mentoring, and case management. Previously, I worked for Stouffer Foods as a direct sales rep. and then took some time off to raise my children (who are both Tumwater High School graduates). During this time I worked as an event planner planning auctions and weddings.
I was born and raised in Southern California where I spent much of my life playing sports and boogie boarding at the beach. I attended U.C. Irvine and graduated from California State University, Fullerton with my bachelor’s degree in Communication/Public Relations. When not working, I enjoy gardening. My first job was at a nursery where I grew to love plants and landscaping. I obtained my Master Gardening Certificate and love working in my garden every chance I get. I also enjoy road trips! My daughter and I went on a 17-day road trip to Bryce Canyon, Mt. Zion, the Grand Canyon, and the Redwoods. We had an amazing adventure hiking and spending time together. This year we went to Yellowstone and Mt. Rushmore. It is our goal to visit every National Park in America!
As the Graduation Specialist, I want to help students prepare for their next step into adulthood. It is my hope that as they transition from high school to adult life they will do so with excitement for what lies ahead knowing that they are prepared for their future. My top priority is ensuring that students know they are valued and have something of value to give the world.
