Mission & Vision

The Tumwater High School Library strives to fulfill Tumwater School District’s mission of “continuous student learning in a caring, engaging environment.” 

We accomplish this by: 

-Creating safe, inviting, and stimulating spaces for students to develop intellectually and socially emotionally

-Supporting staff and students in technology and literacy instruction to foster critical thinking and academic growth 

-Providing accurate, balanced, current, and diverse literature and materials to meet the needs of our community, foster a love of reading and learning, and reflect our changing world

Materials & Selection Policy

Tumwater High School Library's materials are selected in accordance with Tumwater School Districts' Procedure 2020P which outlines the selection and adoption of instructional materials. 

Materials will be selected by the librarian and must be approved by the building principal. Selection of materials shall follow the recommendations of:

-The American Association of School Librarians School Library Bill of Rights for School Library Media Center Programs 

-Association of School Librarians’ Policies and Procedures for selection of Instructional Materials 

-State Superintendent of Public Instruction Library Media Suggested Policies and Standards
